Get source Code text from activewindow browser

I need to capture source code of active browser window (this could be either Firefox of IE) and read into variable, for further manipulation using excel vba.

So i will call procedure from excel event to verify if either Firefox or IE is open (and in readystate preferably), then capture source code of that active browser active window/tab to a variable.

I will refine this once i get the basics working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, i dont have any code together for this as yet.

But dont know how to loop all open windows, check if either IE or firefox, and if active window/tab of not, then if window name = "xyz" the cature the data to a variable.

I think i have sufficient knowledge of how to transform & use the data once read/extracted from webpage.

I will have a workbook that will have timed event to trigger this procedure and log the results.
