    file format problem after download

    i am downloading a file from my checking account in dominican pesos which uses the ddmmyyyy format. when i download the file the dates that have a dmyyyy characteristic are being formated by excel as a known date format. the dates that have ddmmyyyy are being formatted as a general type and excel is not letting me put them into a date format so I can then take the entire row and convert it to english mmddyyyy.

    any help would be appreciated. attached is an example file

    That is curious. I wish I was able to give you an explanation, but all I can provide is a workaround. Put this function in a standard module:

    Please Login or Register to view this content.

    Then just enter into a blank column:
    Please Login or Register to view this content.
    and copy down to the bottom. You'll still have to format the cells as a date.

    I'd imagine there is a much simpler way to do this, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.
    Is your code running too slowly?
    Does your workbook or database have a bunch of duplicate pieces of data?

    papajack;

    I'm guessing that you're using QueryTable to download the data. If so then check out TextFileColumnDataTypes property under QueryTable in help
