Exclamation Plus and Minus signs to show up in final answer

Hi, Doing a weight loss chart for my wife's work mates as they wish to do a "biggest loser" type weigh in, I have the right formulas for calculating weight loss percenatge, what I need is a way to input the " + " or " - " to show in the final answer, what I have so far is, =(C5-D5)/ABS(D5) , C5 being last weeks weight, D5 being this weeks weight, lets say the final answer is a weight loss, I want the " - " to show so the answer might look like -2.51% in column E5, the same if there is a weight gain, I want the " + " sign to show at the answer, lets say as +2.51%, hope u can help, its been a while since I last used excel formulas, Ray.

    The formula should be

    =(D5-C5)/C5

    and format as percentage.

    - is not problem.
But displaying + would turn your numbers into text so maybe better solution is to display positive green and negative red with formating cells like this:

    0.00%, [Red]-0.00%

Hi Zbor, Thanks for your response, if this is the case, what should the exact formula look like complete? I have used =(C4-D4)/D4 but dont quite understand what the rest of the equation should look like, if colours are needed to have the symbols displayed that is ok if its the only solution, regards, Ray

Hello again Zbor, Couldnt find the supplied custom format you supplied in the pic, then realized that I could make my own up, came up with this, [Red-0.00%;[Blue}+0.00% it works and achieves exactly the result I was looking for, Thanks for your help, All the Best, Ray
