Change fill color based on another cell

I am trying to figure out how to get other cells to change a color once anything is entered into them. I have tryed conditional formating but that only allows for specific text not variable.

    Hello George3232,

You can use Conditional Formatting if your conditions are text or no text. Select "FormulaIs" and enter this:
    =IF(A1, True, False)

Change A1 to the cell you are using, and click "Format" to set the color.
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross
