What is the Formula for Days remaining between 2 dates?

Hello, Im currently creating a speadsheet and I have a list of different equipment that has different inspections due at different dates.

Basically I have a Column that states the Date due and I want the next column to be days remaining and have to update everytime someone on the network opens the excel project.

Also if the date is say...Greater than 30 days out have the cell Green, Less than 30 days have the cell Yellow, and if its past due or 0 days remaining have the cell turn Red.

i dont know how to add the colors in but i cant even get the days remaining to work.

Upon hours of searching ive tried many things such as:

A1-Today() and i keep getting the feedback at a date format..

Problem 2 is...the way we display the date due is in a military format (example: 20100825)
so it thinks of it as a number rather than a date..

If anyone can help me solve this complex riddle id greatly appreciate it!

Your formula is correct.

To get the date to display as military, use custom cell formatting.

With the date cell selected, press Ctrl + 1 to open the formatting dialogue box. Select the Number tab, choose "Custom" and input "YYYYMMDD"

To get the days between to show as a number, from the same formatting box, choose the first option: "General"

As for the aging coloring, that can be done with conditional formatting, which should be right in the middle of the home tab on your ribbon.

Thanks! That helps wonders! Ok now that I have everything fixed...the colors are acting up...I made it a 3 tone color and that when its at its highest Value it displays Green and Lowest Value Red...But that didnt seem to work.

Out of 180 Days the count down is down to 169 days yet it displays it in a redish color...

You may need to check the order of your format conditions, or the bounds.

What criteria did you use for the formatting?
