Subtotal and filters

I have a subtotal calculation and I thought it was supposed to work with filters, but everytime I apply a filter to the data, my subtotal value doesn't change. What's weird is that when I double-click and then click out of the subtotal cell, it updates.

Here is my subtotal: =SUBTOTAL(9,G2:G22)

I'm not married to using a subtotal, I just need a way to sum up the values and take filtering into consideration. It's just summing numbers.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
