    Question Find and Replace results in formatting loss - please help

    Hi,

    I am a newbie and I have a problem with 'Find and Replace'

    The cells in my sheet has something like this:

    abc: def

    When I use 'find and replace' to replace all 'abc' with 'xyz', the bold formatting for 'def' is getting lost. Is there any macro which could do this job?

    Thanks.

    If you can, you can copy the values to Word and do the Find & Replace there - the formatting will not be lost - then copy back to Excel.
    but to repeat how viable this is debatable - we don't know of course

    Hi DonkeyOte,

    this solution doesn't seem to be viable in my case. I have newline characters in my cell contents.

    e.g.

    abc1=def1
    abc2=def2

    Even if I copy it to word, replace the text and copy it back to excel, the above two lines get pasted in separate cells. But I want them in a single cell. If there is any solution to this problem then it would help me.

    Thanks.
