    Frequency distribution plot

    Hi All,

    I have to plot a frequency distribution for a given data ( inter packet arrival time). .I have selected some bin ranges from the data value and gave the frequency formula of =frequency (data array, bin range ) and then pressed ctrl + shift + enter I get "NA" value on the frequency column.

    Please help me in selecting the bin range and to calculate the frequency distribution plot .
    My data is someowhat similar to below data . It's basically a long file with 50000 entries in the excel sheet . I couldn't attach it here . please incase if you want ,i'll send to your email.

    Hi,

    A good starting point for the number of bins is the square root of the number of samples.

    When you've decided on the bins, enter them in an unused column in excel (eg J1:J20). Next, select the cells in the next column to the bins (eg K1:K20).

    Press F2 to edit the range, and type =FREQUENCY(data_array,J1:J20) and confirm with CTRL, SHIFT and ENTER.
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

    Do you mean the chart that is generated? If so, try looking at the series properties. Right click the series in the chart and select format series.
