How to Filter Detail tab based on Search criteria from another tab

    Greetings Excel experts,

I've attached the file for you to view. But here is my problem. I want to be able to filter down by name on the detail tab via the cell E6 on the report tab. I would like the usuer to type the name they want, have the pivot data update with its data, and the detail tab only show the items based on the name searched in E6 report tab.

I know in access from building a search form the following code works:

But having never done something like this in Excel, I am unsure the correct code to do this. Currently, (from an older way of doing things) there is code on the detail tab yellow search box to search via name. But that doesn't work with the functionality I need now.

    Your help is greatly appriciated.

    Hi

I'm a little confused because your spreadsheet is already doing what I *think* you're trying to do.

I've added a drop-down box in cell E6 (if the user makes a spelling mistake when typing in the names, no values will be displayed). Selecting a name from this list causes the table in range B3:C9 to select values only for this employee.

What do you want to do that's different to this?
