Red face Help Improving Hockey Tournament Spreadsheet

Hello - this is my 1st post (sheepish grin...)

I'm working on a spreadsheet for a kids hockey tournament. I want it to schedule, score and then rank AND sort the teams based on the results of the games. I'm getting closer but I'm still having a few issues. Also, there may be easier ways to do what I am doing.

1st quesion - Summary Page in my workbook - Return Multiple Values
Is there anyway in Excel to automatically populate multiple Game #'s based on a single Team # (i.e. cell Summary!A5 for T1). What I want is some kind of look up that will scan a range in Score page (the entire schedule) pull all matching game numbers into the Summary page. There will ALWAYS be 3 games in this scenario - BUT the teams could be home or away so the information is in 1 of 2 places.

    2nd question - various places - VLOOKUP
I've hear that for VLOOKUP you can use a formula to calcualte the column # required. Will any formula work or is ther something specific? Also Is there any way to have a relative column #?

3rd question - automatically sorting based on changing ranks
Is there any way to set up the sheet so that each time the ranking of the teams on the Standings page changes they are automatically sorted so that the team ranked #1 in a pool is always shown on top?

I think that's all for now - any advice is welcome.

    Hi,

I can't help thinking that your analysis would be greatly simplified if your data was arranged in a more methodical way. i.e. as a straightforward table matrix. The Scores Sheet and Summary Sheet seem in any case to be simply different presentations of the same information.

With a simple table matrix you also open up the very powerful analysis that Pivot Tables will give you.
