basically to start off, i had one long string of data in 1 column and used text to columns to spread it out but it didnt work for all the information as some strings had more info or less then the others. I pretty much need to go row by row and check based on certain conditions that it matches up with what should be in that column. i have the first 5 columns dealt with automatically when I initially put it all together. but when it gets to the next column, it is all mixed up with what data should be in there. I think i am looking for some way to read the data in the cell and if it matches the conditions of the column, leave it be and move to next column if not i need to take that cell and all the cells with data to the right of it and shift them to the right.
For example the first column that got messed up was the middle names. half of them are either initials or full middle names which should be there and the rest are groups of numbers or mixes of numbers and letters. I would want for this column to only keep the initials and full middle names and shift all others data to the next column.
I dont know how to really explain it anymore or if it can even be done without some extreme programming. It has been a while since ive used vb or any programming for that matter.
if anyone has any ideas please help cause right now i have to go one by one and delete and move myself. and we get new excel sheets all the time with at least 500 rows on each if not way more.
