Format cells to change colour by date?

Looking for some assistance on cell (conditional ) formatting.
I have a sheet with a date column (in no order as sheet in name order) and would like to show these dates in red/amber/green depending on period, i.e. 9 to 12 months and over =red, 6 to 9 months amber and 6 months and under=green.

Have looked at the conditional formatting but can't seem to get it completely right, any help appreciated.

    Thanks

See attached example. I've coloured the cells green by default and then used 2 conditional format tests to deal with the amber/red formatting.
