Links in email, sent by a macro, does not work

    G'Day guys!

I'm using a macro that creates an email and adds a link, to the file, in the email.
The link just doesn't open from the email...
    Can't figure this one out...

    The code is from http://www.rondebruin.nl/mail/folder3/filelink.htm

Could you be a little more specific ?

Presumably you mean that once sent the link within the email generates an error dialog when clicked ?
(to activate the link from a draft use Ctrl + Click rather than just Click)

Assuming above to be the case could you provide a sample link - as generated in the email ?

There are no problems in sending the email.
The macro creates this kind of email:

    Colleagues,

I want to inform you that the next sales Order :
    TESTc.xls is created.
Click on this link to open the file : Link to the file

    Regards,

    Account Management
The path in the hyperlink is "file://H:/TESTI/TESTc.xls"
The receiver is inside our company so the path should work.
H is a network drive so that's not the problem :D

When clicking the link nothing opens even though it shows that there is a hyperlink.
I don't know if the problem is in the macro or somewhere else...

when ? before or after you press Send ? (before - you must use Ctrl + Click)

that's only true if all users have configured the same mapped drives ... you might want to use the UNC path to be on the safe side

When the email is sent, receiver opens it and clicks the link - the link won't open.
It works fine when I change the link to a webpage. Why the hell won't it open a file from a drive?

The path is the same for all the users. What do you mean by that UNC?

I guess the problem is in Outlook.
If I type a hyperlink to a file in an email it won't open it.
A hyperlink to a webpage works though...

    Any ideas on that? Anyone?

The sample works for me... have you checked that both machines have the same mapping for H Drive ?

    Regards UNC see: http://www.uwplatt.edu/oit/terms/uncpath.html

Yep, they have the same mapping.
The link doesn't work even though I save it to my computer's hard drive and send the email to me.

    This is weird stuff :/

Hahah, figured this one out :D

I had to change Explorer as a default browser.
Now the link opens in Explorer instead of Excel :D
