Excel opens but spread sheet area is invisible?

    This is weird.
I did some programming in VB.NET. I open an existing Excel file (it works fine) paste some data from a Userform to some cells, saveas and email it.
Once I do that I can no longer see the spread sheet area of an excel file unless I open a new workbook and then view open the file I need to open.
The area where the spread sheet normally is is literally, invisible. As in, you see right thru to your desktop background.

If I reboot everything works fine, once I run the code Excel doesn't work like it should.
Here is the odd part, although the spread sheet is invisible, if I do a print preview it works, and it prints.

I checked the worksheet properties, they are not hidden.
I can not view any existing excel spreadsheet, I have to open a new workbook first!?

    See attached images.

I realize this is VB.NET, but the problem seems to be Excel (my best guess), hence the reason I posted here.
