Automatically extracting data from pdf to Excel

Hi I am looking to see if anyone has any ideas for the problem I have. Ever week we get a delivery from a supply company, the product is delivered in litres and the amount delivered each week varies, to monitor the amount delivered I have setup an Excel sheet which records date and amount delivered, the sheet I have then setup to calculate the mean delivery as well as limit of mean +/- 3 standard deviations and if outside of this range a comment is highlighted, I have now just set the sheet up so that if the delivery goes out of range that it will automatically email me, but the problem is that someone has to manually input the date and amount delivered each week which then kind of defeats the purpose of having the Excel sheet as the person inputing the data could just check to see if the amount is outside of the normal range. So what I am looking to do is have the Excel sheet automatically extract from a pdf attachment the date and amount delivered, is this possible or am I looking for too much?

Thanks in advance for any help people can offer even if it is just to say that it is not possible so that I know not to keep looking and trying

There aer a few PDF to Excel programs out there. I can't recommend any one as they all seem to have differences. Here are some ads.

The workbook would need to be opened anyway which requires someone to do it & inputting a date & an amount doesn't seem excessive to me

Hi Keith,

I have a freind in an CPA firm that does lots of taxes. They get most of the tax information in PDF format that they then scan and run Able2Extract on. They claim it is the best to convert pdf to Excel.

Will be looking into the auto-converting software that is available.
