How to change selected drop down choice automatically when a dependant field changes.

Hey guys,

I'm posting here because I cannot for the life of me find how to do this.

I'd like to have what I selected from a drop down change automatically when its source changes.

For example, I have Cats in cell A1, and Dogs in A2, which are selected using the Data Validation List option to create a drop down. Cells B1 to B50 contain breeds of cats. C1 to C50 contains "Cats", chosen from the drop down (where the choices are in the A1:A2 range).

In A1, I change "Cats" to "Birds".

Here's the issue.

I would like C1 to C50 to automatically switch from the word "Cats" to the word "Birds" because it changed in A1.

This is a simplistic example, and the real version has IP addresses and way to identify them, so this is just easier.

Is this possible?

That's close to what I'm looking for. If I select "Americas" from the drop down in B13, then change "Americas" to "Nato", in cell F7, I want "Americas" to change to "Nato" in cell B13 automatically without having to use the drop down again.

Since my post seems to be confusing to others, maybe I should reword it...

I don't want to select a VALUE from the drop down list, I want to select the cell itself. Therefore, when the contents of the cell changes, (IE, A1 contains Cats and is changed to Birds), because the cell itself was selected from the dropdown, the text that appears will change.
