Cool merging data between columns - do I have to do this manually?

We are using excel more and more and I need a little help with a formula for merging data.

I have a file containing a list of part numbers in column A and the price for each part in column B

Somewhere else (maybe column C) I have a PARTIAL list of part numbers and the new price for those parts (maybe column D) ( I mention partial because it is not all the same parts as column A....just some of them)

I need to know if there is a way where we can compare the part numbers (column A and C), and then if there is a match, it will take the NEW COST (column D) and overwrite the existing COST in column B.

Any advice - even if it is "no you can't do it" will help me stop wasting time.

    Many thanks

    Bob

It is possible; however, you will need to post a sample workbook with some meaningful data, say, a dozen rows or so including the "partials"

Ben, sorry for the delayed response - vacation.

I looked at what you sent and tried to run, but have a feeling since I am using 2003 your macro may not work....or I am too dense to figure how to use it ;-)

I see the command button you created, but can't figure how to run the macro.

Thanks for the assistance to date.

    Best regards

    Bob
