    similar part numbers

I am working on a project for work and i am trying to check for similar part numbers. These part numbers are from multiple companies and they don't nessasrly follow the same format. i have resurched into deleteing alpha characters and leaving myself with numbers but it doesnt seem to help.

    EX
    35-040-AL6061T6-0250X2000X2000
    AL6061T6-0250X3000X3000-35-040

These are the same but I don't know how to get excel to reconize that. The format is not similar from part to part and not being extreamly familiar with excel functions I don't know what can be done.

    Re: similar part numbers

    Hi Will
    Welcome to the forum.
In the attached I have duplicated your examples in a small list for testing.
Open the VBE editor and run the macro "dupartno()" from there.
Then check the results in the Immediate Window at the bottom of the editor.
This may take you forward some

PS I don't think the partnos in your post are the same
not unless X2000X2000 is the same a X3000X3000!!
