    Combobox-listbox multi-type search

    Hi,

    I am trying to create a search facility to enable users search any strings, and once a string is find display the combobox list so the can select.

    To make it little bit more easier to understand I will try to explain the scenario.

    Workbook Name - Search

    Sheet1 = MainSearch
    Sheet2 = Data

    Once the user opens the workbook the will see the MainSearch worksheet.

    1. I don't want the user to have to click a button to activate any user-forms. A similar example is attached where user has to click on the button.

    2. when the user clicks on the search box (preferably single click) the cursor line should be showing to let them know that the can start to type.

    3. When the user types:
    a) J

    The list-box should expand with the names:
    John Abba
    John Paulo
    Jess Bay
    Jess Boen
    Kay Jess

    As you can see I would like any strings after the "space" to be consider and that should be up to 5. This is to enable users to look for middle names too.

    3. When the user types

    a) Je

    The list-box should resize to the correct length depending on the data and in our scenario should list:

    Jess Bay
    Jess Boen
    Kay Jess

    It is exactly like the iPhone Contact search, that you can search either ways.

    Can any of you advice, suggest any solutions or alternatives to achieve these please???

    I have attached a sample of this senario

    Many thanks

    I understand that there are a lot examples with combo-boxes in the forum, however I haven't been able to find anything like my scenario.

    Can somebody please help me?

    Hi protonLeah,

    Thank you very much for the sample.

    Unfortunately I am not able to search for both strings.

    For example if I only know the surname of smb, in our sample "Jess" and type it on the combobox, it will show "jess bay", however I am reffering to "kay jess".

    How can we do that please??

    Many thanks
