Hello Everyone,
Here is what I have:
I use excel 2002.
I have a csv file that has many fields.
One of the fields is called "Description".
The value in this field is formatted in text. The text was saved in this field with double quotes, one in the front of the text and one in the end. This allows the formatting of the text to remain within the excel file.
For example, I will take everything that I have written so far above this line and put one double quote in front of the first word and the very last word used. So it would look like this.
"Hello Everyone,

Once this is entered into the cell, the double quotes are not visible, but the formatting stays exactly the way you see it above without the quotes.
The Conversion Question:
I would like to know how I can take this csv file and convert the field "Description" so that the values within the cells are formatted in HTML. Basically, the HTML would consist of line breaks using the <br>.
The reason:
I would like to import this file into a field in a database that is a HTML type field. I need to keep the formatting that is why I need to convert the values in this field into HTML.
Attachments:
I have attached an example of what I'm talking about. The first one labeled A is the file before conversion and just in text.
The second one labeled B is the same file except the values in the field are in HTML.
I have a feeling that this is something one of you excel masters knows how to do.
Please let me know your thoughts and I thank who ever gives me a hand on this.
Matt
(i had to do the sample in excel format as csv files are not accepted as uploads)
