    Monthly Totals

    Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to devise a way to calculate monthly totals automatically. Specifically, I'm thinking about how each year, the amount of days in each month change. Is there a way that I could create a macro to recongnize dates, and what data each month is associated with? The Pseudo Code would resemble:

When I get this workbook in place, it should be used for years to come. So, I would like it to be automatic with minimal user editing outside of inputing new dates and associated data.

I've attached a simple workbook to clarify my thoughts.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance everyone!!

    Re: Monthly Totals

    Hello ashleys.nl,

This attached workbook has a few changes made to it. There are two additional columns: Last Day and Monthly Total. I used total because you were summing the values.

When the use enters the first day of the month, the last day of the month for that year is calculated. The columns with dates are scanned for all dates that fall with in that month and year. The total is then displayed.

The data is entered into a List. This is special Excel object that expands itself and copies the formulas automatically. The user will need to enter the data in the line with the blue asterisk. The rest is then automatic.

    Leith

Thanks for that help. I used in a checking spreadsheet this morning to calculate monthly deposits and monthly reconciled.

    Very Cool
