finding specific data from one table and pasting it into another table

    hi,

i have two worksheets, in the first one, i have the fields: date, serial no., name and amount (worksheet is sorted name wise)

    WHILE

on the other table, i have the fields: date, classification, sub classification, serial no., supplier, name and amount. (worksheet is sorted date wise)

    NOW.

i want excel to look up for the name, amount, date from the first worksheet.. IF it is same, the serial no. should then automatically be updated in the second worksheet.

is it possible? both worksheets have different file names

How about this example using a helper cell.

Formula is on Sheet2 in column H.

Here is a resource to consider...

It this is not what you are looking for then please attach a sample worksheet of what you have and what you expect.
