    [Solved]Merge/Append data from multiple .CSVs

Ok, this is a bit of an odd request and will likely take a bit of brainstorming to figure out (if it's even possible that is).

Basically, what I have is a HUGE list of images that are being tagged automatically by a Photoshop script that writes the image name and tag to a .csv file. Since many of the images fall under multiple tag categories; I need a way to quickly merge the different .csv files (each .csv has only 1 tag in the second column) while preventing the image from showing up on multiple rows, instead appending any additional tags to another column on a single row for said image. Anyway, I've attached a workbook with an example of what the .CSVs look like and what I want the finished example to look like, as well as what I would get using a manual merge of the .CSVs into a single spreadsheet.

I'm assuming this will need to be done using a macro-enabled workbook if it's even possible. Anyway, thanks for any help with this!

    Re: Remove duplicate row

    Your attachment is not visible.

Also, your title states "Remove Duplicate Row" which is not very representative of your explanation. Nevertheless, we will be able to understand better when we see the spreadsheet.

    Re: Remove duplicate row

Yeah, not very familiar with the attach option for these forums... it should be edited in now...

I also had a slightly different workflow in mind when I started to write the description that involved manually merging the files then sorting out the duplicates, hence the "remove duplicate row" title... guess I forgot to change that.

Here is something which will help you -

    To Attach a File:

    1. Scroll down to the window below your post Additional Options
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

That's how I had done it, but I also had to go to the paperclip icon in the message edit tools and select it from a pull-down there before it actually showed up. Thanks for the help though!

Strange, It apparently worked for nilem.

Thanks for the script nilem. I'll give it a try in the morning to see if it works with the actual images/tags (though I don't see any reason it wouldn't). Bedtime for me now though (it's about 3AM here). Also, would it be possible for you to add comments in case I should need to modify it for additional sheets/rows/tags in the future? I've been doing a lot of work with .JSX lately, so I'm kind of rusty on my VB. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes when I get a chance to try it when I get up. Thanks again!

Sorry it took so long; got a little busy yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to properly test it out. Anyway, I ran it today and it works perfectly! Thanks again for the speedy assistance! +Rep for sure!

If that takes care of your need, please click EDIT in your original post, click GO ADVANCED and set the PREFIX box to SOLVED.
