    Pivot Formula: Gender(male)/Gender(female)

I have a pivot table with a variable Gender. It has two possibilities, "male" or "female". I would like to calculate a new variable with the ratio of Male to Female, how? I know if male and female were two different variables, then you could simply divide Male/Female. But here they are instances of the same variable Gender. Any ideas would be appreciated.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

    Re: Pivot Formula: Gender(male)/Gender(female)

Attached is the sample spreadsheet. In the Pivot table I want to calculate a function of the ratio between male and female. Would it be: ratio = Gender(male)/Gender(female)? I could then apply this ratio to any variable, in this case Age to determine ratio of ages.

    Thanks,
    Peter
