Wink Sorting created lists by name and color

Is it possible to create a drop down list in multiple columns and then after you enter a name for example, to be able to sort those names in the column? I have been trying to do this and have not been able to make it work in multiple rowns in a column.

I would appreciate any advice or let me know if this is not possible. Or if there is a way to do something similar in another way that I have not thought of yet. Also, is it possible to create conditional formatting so you can assign each name in the list a color?

    Thanks

I don't have excel 2003, but I assume you can use the data validation tool under the Data heading. This tool invites you to create a list to fill cell values in the selected column. You can input the list values manually or refer the list to a range.

The easiest way to sort a column is (again in the data tab) to click on data filter. The menu will invite you to sort column according to its data type, i.e., youngest to oldest, numerically, alphabetically, etc.

It could be I'm misunderstanding your question. If so, I apologize.
