    Re-formatting Email Addresses

    Hi all,

Not sure if doing this falls under programming or not, but here is what I have:

I have a column called email, which needs all email addresses to be in the format of [email protected]. Sometimes data is entered into the field as:

    lastname, firstname (title) <[email protected]>

I need one of 2 things:
    1) format the cell in red when an invalid email address format is entered OR
    2) REFORMAT the data into [email protected] (this will be great)

Lastly, I need to do this in Excel 2003 functions

    Thanks in advance

hi jluyt, can you post sample workbook with the original data and result you need to obtain. Sensitive data can be replaced with something meaningless though preserving data type: text remains text, numbers remain numbers

    Hi jluyt,

    Welcome to the forum.
See the attached file where I have tried creating the scenario as mentioned by you.
You can see if any incorrect email will be highlighted immediately. Also I need more details on the format "lastname, firstname (title) <[email protected]>... can you share some dummy emails of this format.. are these lotus email formats? Thanks.
