Case Select compile error "Case without case select"

    Hi

I am trying to find a way of testing 10 different sized ranges in VBA to see if there are ANY blank cells. The ranges are based on periods of time which increase in their row count as the combobox value selected by the user increases towards 10.

On the worksheet one the columns contains input for financial data and if the user has selected say 6 in the combo their are 6 rows of financial data they have to enter, say C1:C6, if they had selcted 2 then the required financila entry would be C1:C2 etc.

I am trying to catch missing entries from a comand button before the range values are used elsewhere in the sheet calculation with case select construct but without a great deal of success, none in fact.

I could post my code but I've just been thrashing about so I doubt whether it would be at all instructive. But as psuedo code it would look something like this

Apart from the error I am getting I am fairly certain my method is wrong particuarly the .select so any push in the right direction wouldbe appreciated.

    many thanks

    What's ws =thissheet?

Can't tell whether you are getting the correct value in periodcount

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook. Don't upload a picture when you have a workbook question. None of us is inclined to recreate your data. Upload the workbook and manually add an 'after' situation so that we can see what you expect. In addition clearly explain how you get the results..
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'.
To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'.
Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments.

You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page.
Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file.

To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page.
Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
    Hope that helps.

    In this section of code:

You'll get the error message at the "Case 2" statement, because you've started a block If, but haven't put an End If in, like this:

Re: Case Select compile error "Case without case select"

Andrew thank you. Makes perfect sense.

I'd woked some more on this testing trying with my limited coding to come up with a more elegant solution. I'm almost there I think but having a slight issue with a If Not IsNumeric in a For Each Cell loop. As it's effectively a new topic I've posted again and will mark this topic SOLVED. Thanks
