Hey all, I have searched the forums and google quite thoroughly and haven't found the answer I am looking for.
I am having trouble with my COUNTIF function. I made a sheet with 4 cells (range a1:d1) all containing the word "yes" in them. I enter =COUNTIF(A1:D1, "yes") into cell D2 and it gives "3" as a result, when clearly the answer is 4. This happens regardless if I change the range to A1:Z1000 or anything of the sort.
Can anyone explain what is going on here? Thanks for you help!

check that each of the A1:D1 cells not contain any extra spaces in them...
