Error on sharing an external data connection

    Hi,

I have a file with a data connection to another excel file and it works ok if the 2nd file is closed. If I open the 2nd excel file and I try to use the data connection in the fisrt file I get the message "the connection for viewing your excel worksheet was lost". If I open the first file and then I try to open the 2nd one I get the message "... file currently in use. Try again later".

I have changed the Mode in the connection string to Mode=Read, but It changes to "Share Deny Write".

What can I do to be able to work with both files at the same time?

Re: Error on sharing an external data connection

    Hi again,

Since no one answered so far I attached a zip file with 3 files in it to help you help me!

Create a folder in D:\testDB and unizp the file.

The file exf_pvt_qry.xlsm, that has two buttons. The result is the same by pressing any button. The difference is that one uses the connection testDB (file testDB.odc) and the other uses the connection testDB1 (file testDB.xlsx).

Both of them work OK if the file testDB.xlsx is closed. But I want to be able to use exf_pvt_qry.xlsm while another person is using testDB.xlsx.

What can I do to make it work?

    Regards,
    Elio Fernandes
