    need to sum up in sheet2 and move all the date from sheet2 to sheet1

    Hello

    need help with excel

    I have sheet1 and sheet2

    Sheet1 has
    Person name Bills
    John 200
    Jack 200
    Etc..
    ..


    Sheet2 has
    Person name bills date
    John 200 given on Jan1st
    100 given on Jan15th
    50 given on Feb10th


    Now I need to add all the bills column of john in sheet2 and add to sheet1

    So if I filter by person name : John under sheet1

    I need to get o/p as below

    Person name Bills
    John 200
    200 given on Jan1st
    100 given on Jan15th
    50 given on Feb10th
    Total 550

    Hi Vijay,
    In Excel it is much easier to keep like data in a column. See the attached, showing how I think you want the data arranged. I've also done a simple Pivot Table on it to show how easy answers are if you keep your rows and columns clean and unique.

    hi marvin,

    appreciate your help.
    you provided a key logic.. will try to embed this into my sheet and check.
    as my 1st sheet has few other details (around 25 columns) and i dont want to keep all the info under 1 sheet.
    my plan is to keep the 1st sheet as simple as possible where we can get the whole summary.
    i am using "value" function and calling in sheet1 so that we can see only all total in sheet1.
