    Moving an application from Access

I need to move an application fro Access to Excel. (Both in Office 2010)
The Access application starts by using an ODBC link to our accounting package. For reasons of speed down our network I chose to download individual files into access and then make the joins between these files locally in Access, using MSQuery

I have found that I cannot do this in Excel. I can download individual files OK using the ODBC but I cannot use MSQuery in Excel to make the links between these files. I can make the links as I do the download but this is so slow as to be impractical.
So, I have 6 individual data tables in Excel worksheets. I need to link these in different ways so that I can manipulate the data. Has anyone some advice as to the best way to do this?

Why don't you import directly from your accounting package into Excel ? e.g. using databasequeries

    SNB,
I can import directly. The reason I don't want to is that if I join more than two files the download time becomes very long. If I join 4 files (which I need) then the down load time is over 30 mins.
In Access I overcame this by linking single files into access tables and then using queries to join the tables in any way I wanted. With the data sets I work with this could happen in a few seconds.

I had hoped to do the same in Excel by linking individual Sage files to worksheets and then joining these by using queries, but I have not been able to do this.
I had then thought to use some kind of lookup formula, but I need to use filtering criteria too, and I can't find a direct way of doing this. MSQuery would be perfect! Am I right that you cannot use MSQuery to link and filter worksheets, or is there a way?
