Using VBA to move cells up and down in a column

Hi, im a very inexperienced macro user and need some help.

I have data in a column that I want to move down a certain number of rows dependant on a number in another cell.

I also want excel to first check that if there are blank rows then the data is moved up to the starting cell. So that the macro can be used many times without the data just moving further down and just stays a certain amount of rows down from the starting point.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
