AddIn issues not allowing copy between workbooks

Morning all,

I have found a "bug" and I'm not sure what the cause is, but I have read somewhere that my addIns could be the reason for this.

I have a couple of addIns that run as soon as you open excel which control certain functions and these addIns run on other pcs in the office as well and recently I have found that you cannot copy between workbooks, not even special paste works, all is greyed out.

If this is the problem, is there a solution?

Yes, I have deactivated the addIns and yes, it does seem to be the problem.

Anybody else out there that has some advice please?

I reckon we may need a mite more to go on than that you have some add-ins that do some things.

It seems to me that the other threads are making reference to a Skype problem, however, I am not running Skype on my machine

Disable the addins & test.

I disabled and tested and that does seem to be the problem.

do the add-ins trap application events?

What do you means by application events?

I mean do the add-ins monitor things like changing selection, switching sheets and workbooks?

Yes, when the user starts Excel:

> It checks if user is connected to network
> If yes, it compares dates of various workbooks, and make copies if required
> Then it runs other addIns

that's not quite the same. If the add-ins don't continually monitor what is happening within Excel there is no reason for the clipboard to be cleared

I had an old addIn run on spreadsheets and I have replaced it, but now I run the following code:

When opening ANY workbook, it looks to see if the previous version of the addIn runs, if it does, it replaces it with the new one...

Could this be the problem?

if you are copying and pasting between open workbooks then that should not be an issue since you aren't opening anything. unless you can give more information I don't see that I can help further.

Unfortunately I don't have more info as I don't know what else to look for.

Is there maybe anyone else out there that might have come accross this problem or might have a suggestion to try?

You need to work through the addins & locate the problem code
