Hi, i have a macro and at the begining of it i turn the screen updating OFF.
However, at various points in the macro my screen still refreshes with images......is there something that can turn the screen updating "back on" even though i have told it to turn off?
What about displaying of alerts..........this does not turn screen updating on does it?
any ideas?

i wish i could post it but i can not...i would make a example-file but in this case i dont think it would help.

is there any event code that might be running and resetting screenupdating? open events or beforesave events?
thats another good/great suggestion. turns out i do have some event code .....are there are screenupdating =true statements in that code.........
i am not done yet fixign the problem but i will let you know what i find.......great suggestions.
you should alter the code so that it stores the current value of screenupdating at the start and then reinstates that instead of just setting it to true at the end.

Your suggestion was a great one......i had forgotten about the open event and other worksheet code i had to have for some other reason.
anway, i think i have it now.
I did want to ask you if you had an example of what you were referring to in your last post.......

yeah-pretty much.
I tried both methods posted above to turn off screen updating and then turn on again, including the one off at the start/end of every event I have. This works for all the event on my sheets except for one: I have shape objects which I have assigned macros to (e.g. a print button, an exit button, a go to top of page button...). It is these shape objects that keep flashing every time a user enters text into the unprotected cells on the worksheet.
Is there some different method that is needed for shapes specifically?
