    Dependent Drop-Downs (Indexed)

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking at trying to create dependents for drop-down lists so I can filter out certain information.

For example, I have groups categorized by customers that fall into a classification of A, B, C & D.

I have it set up based off of a table.
    Creating an offset of this.

I created the index off of this.

I then created the appropriate name for the drop-down. "UniqueCustomer"
    and added the drop-down list.

I created the offset for the customername.

    And the index.

Now, I want to create another dependent that after you have selected the A,B,C or D, that a market comes into play that will also reduce the overall list of the customername.

I'm having trouble understanding the logic of tying the market into the customername based off of the list that is already populated when A, B C or D is selected. I cannot connect it to the A, B, C or D as the market options expand all 4 and wouldn't change anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    -Bob

Click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up a copy of your workbook. Make sure the workbook demonstrates your desired results if possible, or just highlight the cells you're trying to fix. Use BEFORE/AFTER sheets if that helps make it clearer.

That does make sense, thanks for the reply JBeaucaire.

I'm sure if I posted a workbook people would be able to help me out a little easier. The problem is, this is double work for me as I would have to create a sample workbook, as I cannot post some of the things I work on. However, everytime I post in the forums I seem to figure out the problem myself shortly after! :D

I could go through the whole process of explaining it out, but as it only seems to benefit me, I will just comment that this is solved.

However, there is some pretty neat stuff you can do with indexing, and I'm starting to figure out how to really expand it!

Take a look at the Data Validation pages on my website (link below). I have a lot of examples of doing SUB-DV lists within the same cell using indexing.

Those are pretty cool. I like the overall idea for consolidation. I can see how if you have a lot of choices that this could be very benefitial.
