    dollar amounts

hello. my name is paul and i am doing a simple program on accounts due and would like to make negitive dollar amounts invisable. i know how to make numbers invisable however the code i put in the custom area turns everything into regular number and i want them still to be dollar amounts. hope that makes sense. i am an older person. when in high school they were just inventing calculators so be easy on me. thank you in advance

You can use a custom format for the cells. Select the cells, then use the format dialog, select "Custom" at the bottom of the list on the left and enter this:

    $0.00;;$0.00;@

    Re: dollar amounts

Change the code provided by npamcpp to

    $0.00;"Paid";$0.00;@

    for the custom number format

    Re: dollar amounts

just keep in mind - atcspaul - that it is never a good idea to hide amounts or show something other than what is entered. Another option here is to change color

    like

    [Green]$0.00;[Red] $0.00;$0.00;@

or some other colors of your choice (colors available listed below)...

    [Black]
    [Green]
    [White]
    [Blue]
    [Magenta]
    [Yellow]
    [Cyan]
    [Red]

i had it that way originally and the people that had to read it were confused. seemed simple enough to me but you know how it is sometimes lol
what you showed me made it perfect for the average person. and i can just print and hang it up for them to look at. thank you again everyone
