Compare 2 columns near equiv (one has text included) and output to new column

Here is the issue, I have two columns where the data on the right is somewhat truncated (took off leading zeroes, etc)
The value on left has the proper value, but the column on right has the proper order.
    example

    0000046p.jpg 46
    0000164p.jpg 88
    000088.jpg 128

would like for lookup to find near match and post value of column a into column c

    0000046p.jpg 46 0000046p.jpg
    000088.jpg 88 000088.jpg

presume best way would be to look from column b against a and post into column c
value in colmn b would be always be last 2 chars of column a unless there is a letter

    Perhaps?

    =VLOOKUP("*"&B3&"*.*",A:A,1,0)
Where there is a will there are many ways.
