MSCOMM problem - cannot get the workbook attached to run correctly

Hi,

I have tried using the code attached in the workbook to communicate with my balance tool via the (USB>RS232)- COM4 port. However whenever I try and run the program, it just seem's to run without obtaining the values from the balance. I have pillaged the code in the workbook attached from here.
Is there anyone who could help me in finding out where im going wrong? I know the COM4 port is active as I can see the values flying about as displayed in the RealTerm program(used to capture traffic on the port).

Any help will be appreciated,
Note: I have checked through this forum and online for a while but I have not had any luck. Also I am running Windows Vista, Excel 2007(VB6.X).
