How do I create a segmented pie within a pie chart? While squeezing all my contents.

    Hey guys,

I have a problem which I can only manage to draw it out via paint (kindly see the attached file)

    apples and pears.jpg

Basically, I'm dealing with 3 components.

    i) apples
    ii) pears
    iii) and other fruits

and each year, I'm selling it at a different scale i.e. apples at 30%, pears at 50% and other fruits at 20% every year i.e. 2005, 2006, etc; thus, i feel that a pie chart can truly illustrate my point.

The thing is, I do not know - the step by step way - of making the pie chart into a segmented area (based on years)

Would you guys be so kind to guide me through?

    Appreciate your response!

    Sure!

But I'm not sure about uploading. Can the following help?

    2005 2006 2007
    Apples 35% 35% 38%
    Pears 7% 6% 7%
    Oranges 13% 12% 13%
    Other fruits 47% 47% 42%

    Hello,

I have attached a sample workbook. Using your data, I have created the pie chart that replicates your jpg. I just had a massage your data into one column first. Then I formatted the colour on each segment to to ensure some consistency between the fruits ie Green for Apples, Blue for Pears, Orange for Oranges and Red for Other fruits.

    I hope this helps.

    Appreciate your input, Diana.

At the same time, I feel that it can be done in another way.

For example, is there a way to place in the numbers i.e. 2005 on top of a big slice of the pie; with the different color-segments in it.

Because I'm afraid that the average layman cannot differentiate the different colors (once there's too many color combination on the pie).

    Hope you get my point.

    See examples

But really for easier comparison of years or fruits a column or bar chart would be more useful.
