    how did you come up with the SN as String in the brackets? Is there any other code that calls this sub and provides it with SN as string? If not, delete that please If yes, please attach the whole workbook

    No there is not I am not sure how to get this to work because when I put it in with the rest of the code like this

    It simply shows a an error 9 "subscript out of range" and am struggling to get this to work

    please just attach the workbook which is returning the error (together with the code in a module). The code works fine in a blank workbook with 3 sheets.

    hey there! Sorry for taking so long - was on my way home from work and stopped by a shop to buy a new watch ^^

    Your sheet has a text string in cells(1,2). You're trying to add 2 to a string I think you might have meant cells(2,1) - that would indeed work since that cell is a integer.
