Capture time for an activity

Hi Folks,

I need to capture a time taken to complete a particular activity in my team. Say if a user is about to start an activity he should press a button to start the time and in middle of it if he need to pause the time he should have a pause button and start it again by clicking start button and after completing the activity he can press the end time button to stop the time.

it is similar to stop clock function.

can this be done through excel using macros.

Any suggestion or ideas to prepare a tool will be very helpful for me.
