I am new to all of this and don't know how to fix it so that only one on the boxes of the same line can be checked. If there is a check in column C I don't want a check to be allowed in column F and vis versa.

Hi kdstokes208 and welcome to the forum.
When you add check boxes it makes the whole problem harder. How about using a simple "x" in a cell to show it selected or not. See the attached workbooks that use code that double clicks on cells and adds or removes an x from the cell. Then you might do a little more VBA to insure both aren't checkde per row.
Find some old examples I have saved in the past to show double click to x.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
