As a macro Newbie is there a rule as to when to use Worksheetfunction.whatever, Application.whatever and Application.worksheetfunction. Whatever?
It seems a bit haphazard with excel only liking certain combinations for certain functions

application.worksheetfunction.whatever and worksheetfunction.whatever they both are the same, it is just that, worksheetfunction.whatever is just the short name for application.worksheetfunction.whatever
Yes, you can combine application.whatever and application.worksheetfunction.whatever together since application.whatever and worksheetfunction.whatever serve completely different purpose.
Ahh ok, thanks JieJenn. Im looking through some workbooks at work and im confused (as I imagine the original author was) by thier constant chopping and changing.
