Click on the Office Button at the left top
Excel Options at the bottom
Popular in the left window
Working with formulas in the middle
Check R1C1 Reference Style.

The code is if you want to toggle between the two reference styles for instance when you have a formula you want to use in code.
At least that is what I use it for.
