Hey Guys,
My name is Steven. I am brand new to this forum. Thanks in advance for your patience. I am new to programming, and I would really appreciate any help you can give me. I have read other posts on macro hyperlink but I don't understand them very well. This is a project to help me be more efficient at work, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I am trying to make a macro that does the following: Search for files in a database on the c: drive that match extensions with ".xls", ".dwg", ".sldprt",etc. I am sure the extensions don't matter as much as the principal. Then when the extension is found, copy the file name to a new cell in Column A, hyperlink the newly pasted filename in the cell to it's correct file location. Later, if I get really brave, I will want to put the cells in categories, and organize them according to their file names. Three of them will have the same name, but different extension, and I will want to put them together so they are easier to find.

The last thing I want to do involves using solidworks PDM. Each file has a data card, with information like a description on it. I want the macro to copy and paste the files corresponding description into the cell next to the file name. I hope that makes sense. This isn't super urgent, but it will help productivity a lot, since the pdm search is not very good, and we have something like 17000+ files to organize, so a macro that did this would be great. I also want to be able to run the macro when new files are created so the spreadsheet remains up to date. Thanks again, I know this is a lot, and as I grow in programming I will do my best to give back.
Sincerely,
Steven
