trying to make an automated shift calendar

    Hi everyone.

i'm trying to make myself a shift calendar as i work a continental shift pattern and trying to remember when your at work and when your off work isnt easy to keep track of.

i have a spreadsheet at present with a calendar that works just nicely as all i have to do is change the year in one cell and it updates the days in that year.

the 2nd sheet is where i would like to keep track of my shifts.

my shift pattern is 4 days off and 4 days on.

so i would like to use `O` for days off and `D` for days and `N` for nights as i do 4 days off then 2 days and 2 nights (4 days work).

i would like to be able to start the year off by manually adding some patterns and then the rest of the sheet be automaticaly updated somehow. (this is where im stuck) ive tried many ways of doing it with many differnet formulas and i cant get it to work or even if i have any idea of the best way to get this to work.

ive included my spreadsheet for you all to have a look at it. if anyone can suggest a theory to this issue i'd be mighty happy.

hope someone can give me a suggestion or even solve this problem of mine.

    many thanks

    rod
