Merge and Unmerge cells in a protected sheet

Hi Everyone,

I would like to ask if there's a code I can use that would allow me to merge or unmerge cells in a protected sheet.

I would like to enable merge cells for aesthetic purposes but would also like to protect the formulas in the sheet.

If possible - can the macro run automatically once the worksheet is opened I'm not really familiar with macros

Thanks for the input; however, I would like the other users to be able to merge/unmerge the sheet without having to unprotect it.

THis is to be sure that the formulas are not compromise
