Auto Populate a field using a drop down box

    Hello,

I am working to develop a spreadsheet to help our financial advisors showcase our portfolio allocations to prospects.

Let me give a quick run down of what I am attempting to do:

We use 3 basic portfolio models (efficient, standard, and socially responsible). I want to have three tabs that outline the underlying security weights for each portfolio. This will range from an all fixed income portfolio to an all equity portfolio. So essentially you could open a tab for a portfolio model (efficient, standard, and socially responsible) and look at the different allocations, returns, and standard deviations. This is no issue.

My trouble is doing the following. I would like to have a fourth tab in which I would have 6 blank columns. On top of each column I would like to have a drop down box, which again is no issue. I would like to be able to select a model (15% fixed/85% equity for example) and have that auto populate the weights, return, and standard deviation below the drop down box. I have done some preliminary research and have not been able to find anything that helps me address that specific issue. Is this even possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!!!

So you want to pull calculations that have already been done on the other sheets and display them in the 4th sheet based on the choices you make in drop downs. Not too difficult, but the answer is greatly impacted on what you really want to see.

Click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up a copy of your workbook. Make sure the workbook demonstrates your desired results. So mockup this 4th sheet and show us the drop down and the choices you've made and the desired results based on those choices.

You may need to use mutliple copies of the Sheet4 to demonstrate the varying problems you want to overcome in a single sheet.

Re: Auto Populate a field using a drop down box

In Sheet one I would like to have 6 columns where an advisor could compare different models/allocations side by side. I would like to be able to pick a model from a drop down and then based off of my selection, it would pull the returns. For example if I select the 05/95 efficient model (from the first tab), I would want it to pull the data and display below the drop down. Is it possible to do this? I have been playing around and cannot get it to work.

    Thanks!

your sample workbook is missing the mockups required to see your end results. Did you attach the correct workbook?
