Hyperlinking to and Copying external PDFs where only prefix/partial file name is know

Hello, this is my first day/post, thank you!
I have a master list of documents in an excel workbook where the folder path is successfully established (using the conctenate function).
I have another column containing the first 8 characters of the PDF file name.
There are multiple other columns used to sort / filter.

#1 I would like to have hyperlinks to PDFs assigned to the first column, which is the column with the first 8 characters of that PDF, that link to a folder I know (with the path 2 columns over). In the destination folder, there is only 1 PDF with the corresponding 8 initial character.

#2 After the user is reviewing the data and applies a filter to create a subset list of documents, I would like that subset/filtered list of PDF files copied to another location.

I have never really run a Visual Basic script so any help would be appreciated, starting with how to even activate the Script, etc. but I tried to something something similar and took a stab at the following...
    Thank you!

Oh no! I tried it again and it's not working
The path that I had is the cell 2 columns over used as period (I think initially excel document was 1 folder deep) and forward slash ie "./path/path/" but now it's not working.
I was also wondering about the line where a backslash is added; why is that? Is that checking for the first character in the path or second?

Also, the excel document is now in the same folder level (where it will always be stored) as the folders it needs to dive into in the path (this needs to maintain relative links so that the whole "project" folder can be copied to another machine and still work.
    ie c:\project\excel.xlsm
    ie c:\project\path\path\doc.pdf

No need to PM me. I get notified when there is a new reply to this thread just like you.

Exactly what's "not working". The hyperlinks?

This is not a valid path syntax; "./path/path/"
    I didn't understand the rest.

I added more rows to the spreadsheet and ran the create hyperlinks function again and it didn't create the hyperlinks.
The contents of the path column (myCell offset 2) should be "\path1\path\" right? Or should it be "path\path"?
The very first time I ran it and it worked, the path column was ".\path\path\"

The other questions have to do with migrating this whole structure...
#1 I'd like whole folder to be copied to another server, ie copy from c:\project to server:\users\public\project so links need to be relative...
#2 Seperate/new question: is there a way to save as from excel and not have excel create hyperlinks with % for spaces? (Has to do with creating html file from excel and syncing to Goodreader on iPad)
