Hyperlink from excel table to jpgs and burn a DVD that works on its own

I am an excel novice and would appreciate some direction if what I want is possible:
My father died leaving many stamp albums. I have scanned every page - 2364 jpgs.
I have created an excel file with all these jpg file names in column 1 and further details in other columns.
I want to create a hyperlink for each of those cells to the respective actual jpg so that the excel file works as an index and a viewer can easily select a cell and be taken to its scanned page jpg.
But I do not want this to work on our mac, I want to burn all this data on a dvd - the excel index and all the jpgs - so that it can be used by another viewer on a different computer.
Can anyone tell me how I may do this?
Also can anyone explain in simple terms how I may word a macro to automatically create the hyperlinks for each of the 2364 entries? (I have never created a macro on excel.)

    Hi exfordy

I have no knowledge off burning things, but here is a macro that will set up the hyperlink for all your images.

It assumes that the filenames are in 1 column with no breaks

    Good luck with the project

    Alastair,
Thanks but I think this is going to be way beyond me. I don't understand which parts of that macro I need to fill in when I create it and which parts are going to appear when I run it.
The top level folder is on my desktop. Previously I opened the excel file and did a few manual hyperlinks to the jpgs in that folder and burnt a test DVD but that failed because the links on the files in the CD were to the folder on my desktop. Somehow I need to create standalone folder(s) and hyperlinks that work within the DVD, not with linking to our mac desktop.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi exfordy

The idea of the macro is so that when you click on the number, the selected file should open, as per your original post
I want to create a hyperlink for each of those cells to the respective actual jpg so that the excel file works as an index and a viewer can easily select a cell and be taken to its scanned page jpg.
The actual DVD burning is outside my experience.

    Regards
    Alastair
